Van 13 november 2008 tot en met 12 december 2008 organiseert de Dienst Cultuur van de Vrije Universiteit Brussel voor de achtste keer de tentoonstelling OUT OF CONTROL. Het opzet van deze tentoonstelling is om jonge, pas beginnende kunstenaars te steunen in de uitbouw van hun prille carrière.
Alle afgestudeerden van het academiejaar 2007-2008 van alle kunsthogescholen van Vlaanderen worden uitgenodigd om een werk naar keuze tentoon te stellen voor het grote publiek. Er is geen voorafgaande selectie. Wie zich inschrijft kan meedoen. Op die manier ontstaat een dynamische tentoonstelling waar de verschillende disciplines naast elkaar komen te staan.
De tentoonstelling vindt plaats in verschillende gebouwen op en rond de campus van de Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
Een onafhankelijke jury van kunstkenners en kunstcritici selecteert vervolgens een tiental kunstenaars voor een ronreizende tentoonstelling doorheen Vlaanderen. De Vrije Universiteit zal bovendien één werk aankopen en biedt aan één kunstenaar de mogelijkheid om een solotentoonstelling te houden in GalerY'.

For Stephan Balleux, painting is a global concept which conveys both a visual and a conceptual experience. He studies the medium from an analytical angle, as it evolved. The various techniques (drawing, painting, sculpture, video and special effects) constitute as many fields of investigation.
From these experiences emerges an image, in constant change, erasing any temporality. Like a virus, the pictorial texture propagates itself and its digitalization becomes an eminently contemporary process. The notion of space, this is compromised by the macro/microscopic vision of the painting and the forms that it generates. Ultimately, the ambiguity is total: the painted image seems to be in motion while the digital rendering reveals the painting. The whole work evolves in a stimulating and discontinuous process through the various media.
