OUT OF CONTROL 2007: WERK VAN DE LAATSTEJAARS VAN DE VLAAMSE KUNSTHOGESCHOLEN		1 september - 5 oktober 2007
Sinds 2001 biedt de Vrije Universiteit Brussel bij de start van het academiejaar een blik over de grenzen van de campus naar wat de Vlaamse kunsthogescholen voorleggen. De eindejaarstentoonstellingen op deze scholen beloven alvast veel goeds, maar ze blijven beperkt tot één school of richting. Op de Out Of Control tentoonstelling in september wordt ook de confrontatie met de anderen niet uit de weg gegaan. Ook de verschillende disciplines, van schilder- tot videokunst, komen naast elkaar te staan. Meer dan 80 jonge kunstenaars zullen aantreden.

'Error #7' is a temporary international exhibition that includes video
and the projected image. The project will be held in an empty warehouse
near the former Alcatel building in Antwerp. The exhibition reflects
upon different worlds/cultures at significant moments in social and
political life. The spatial setup of the exhibition allows for an
individual approach, but also invites ‘the works’ to integrate
themselves within the complex totality of images and visions.

This autumn, the Stadsgalerij Heerlen will present the exhibition
'Encounters'. 'Encounters' examines the tension between the dominant
visual culture, often confirmed by the 'official' media, and possible
alternative visions. 'Encounters' exhibits a variety of projects that
are intended to break through the 'stereotype' images in order to tell
a different personal story. The exhibition can be interpreted as an
open space in which visitors become conscious of their own
'preconceived' images and the choices underlying acceptance or
rejection of (possibly uncomfortable) encounters. The participating
artists each show how fertile it can be if one chooses to do so. The
works function as an 'Archimedean point', as a starting point for
people to ask questions about themes such as democratisation,
emancipation, and globalisation. Surprising and uncomfortable
encounters in - among others - Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Russia,
North Korea, China, Israel, the former GDR as well as the Worldwide web!

The exhibition is organised in co-operation with the Glaspaleis and the
multidisciplinary summer festival Cultura Nova. It can be seen at
various locations in the Glaspaleis: in the Stadsgalerij Heerlen, the
display case and the first floor (level +1).

Cultuurcentrum De Werft vroeg aan Catharina De Vos van Galerie C. De Vos om een kleurrijke tentoonstelling samen te stellen.

Een ideale gelegenheid om tal van kunstenaars beter te leren kennen.
De exporuimtes van de Halle zijn de ideale plaats om verschillende hedendaagse kunstenaars en hun kunstwerken met elkaar
te confronteren.

Diverse kunstvormen komen aan bod: schilderkunst, beeldhouwkunst, fotografie, video, installatie...

Kunst geeft kleur aan het leven.
Kleur is de leidraad.
